Fast-food worker wakes up to 11 missed calls from her boss asking her to come in 1 hour early: 'This was all at 9 AM!'

Nobody should call someone 11 times unless there is an actual emergency.

If you've been in the workforce long enough, you've probably worked with an employer who thinks that every small thing is a matter of life and death. If you show up a minute late, the whole store is going to go under, even though those minutes would've been spent clocking in and getting set up anyway. If someone takes too long in the bathroom, they are "stealing time" from the company, and their bathroom breaks must be limited. They freak out over the smallest issue, as if they're trying to make their employees as neurotic as possible. If you're able to keep your cool with a manager who can't handle minor inconveniences, my hat goes off to you.

Working an hourly position with no consistent schedule means that you're probably going to get a call or two from your boss asking you to come in and cover someone else's shift. Depending on your priorities, this can be a tough question to answer. If you need the money, you might say yes to every request and quickly become the go-to coverage for anyone who wants to sleep in late and skip work. That's fine if you don't have any kind of social life, but most young people working in fast food restaurants do, so they might choose to decline an extra shift if it means canceling their hangout with their friends. The employee in this story didn't even get the chance to choose whether she'd cover her coworker's shift, because her boss called her when she was fast asleep!
